The Polish Book Institute respects privacy of persons visiting its websites. The data we collect is used solely for statistical purposes and for the purpose of the provision of services connected with the use of the online reader account, in particular with a view to book library items, including transfer of information to the library in which the reader has been registered so that such booking is made.

Data collected during the registration process

In order to be able to use some of the functions of our system, you will have to get registered. During the registration process, we will ask you for your personal identification number PESEL as well as for your reader’s card number that you received during registration at the library using the MAK+ system. For the purpose of creating your account, we will also ask you to provide your e-mail address (in order to confirm the registration).

Data collected automatically

During your visit on our website, data concerning your visit will be automatically collected, for instance your IP address, name of the domain, type of the browser, type of the operating system, place you live in, etc.

Data collected when you contact us

Through our contact form we collect data such as: first name, surname, name of the institution, e-mail address and phone number. This data is necessary so that we can quickly react to your inquiries (in particular when you report problems about the website) and are able to contact you to give you answers to your questions.

When you contact us by phone, email, etc., you provide us with your personal details, e.g. first name, surname, email address, etc.

We collect all data solely for contact purposes. We do not transfer your data to any third parties and we do not keep it longer than necessary.

Data collected when you register on our website

During registration you will be asked to provide your PESEL number and the number of your library card in the library operating in the MAK+ system where you are registered. You will also be asked to provide your e-mail address.

How do we use your data?

In no case do we sell your data to any third parties.

Data collected during the registration process will be used only to allow you to log in our system. The registration is obligatory if you want to manage your borrowings and bookings in the libraries in which you are registered.

Your data is transferred to the libraries in which you are registered for the purposes of providing information about the items you want to book in these libraries. We do not disclose your data to libraries in which You are not registered.

Automatically collected data may be used to analyse user behaviour on our website, to collect demographic data about our users or to personalize the contents of our websites. This data is automatically collected about each user.

Data collected during exchange of correspondence between you and our website will be used solely for the purpose of providing answers to your inquiries.

We reserve the right to disclose selected information about the User to the competent authorities or third parties who submit a request for such information, based on appropriate legal basis and in accordance with the applicable law.

In the event of a breach of the Rules of our website, an infringement of law or when required by the provisions of law, we may make your data available to judicial authorities.

How will we contact you?

If you granted your consent to the receipt of commercial information from us (e.g. about new possibilities of our system, about latest publications or promotions), you may receive e-mail messages from us.

How can you notify us of changes regarding your data?

After logging into the system and selecting the SETTINGS section, you may change your login, password and e-mail address which we should use to contact you.

At any time you may grant or withdraw your consent for the receipt of commercial information from the Polish Book Institute.

At any time you may grant or withdraw your consent to the provision of your data to other libraries. Data is made available at the level of libraries – the one you are already registered and the ones where you will register – the goal is to make the time of registration in the library as short as possible.

There is no possibility to change or remove the automatically collected data.

Use of "cookies"

Our website uses cookies whose purpose is, for instance, to identify your browser when you use our website so that we know what page should be displayed to you. The cookies help us adapt our offer to individual recipients and verify how effectively the published information reaches given groups of recipients. The cookies do not contain any personal data.

identifier of the hub servicing the session – it determines display of the site contents from one of two twin servers, thus reducing the load on the site. Removed when the browser is closed.

Session identifier of the user logged in the server. The value is unique. Used to store variables allocated to the user (e.g. the books in the basket).  Removed when the browser is closed.

(Google Analitics – GA)

Saved during the first visit on the site. It allows us to learn the number of users regularly visiting our site and the number of new users (in a given period). It also stores duration of visits on the site. Kept for 2 years.

_utmb
(Google Analitics – GA)

It stores information about an individual visit – the number of pages viewed in the domain. Kept for 30 minutes.

_utmc
(Google Analitics – GA)

Used in combination with the _utmb cookie. It helps us determine whether the traffic on the site should be classified as new visits or not. Removed when the browser is closed.

_utmz

It informs us how you got to us. Provides information whether you were re-directed from another site, browser or whether you visited the website directly by typing its address. Kept for 6 months.

_utmv

Information about non-standard variables that are collected during visits.

Most browsers, both on computers as well as smartphones or other devices, accept “cookies” by default.
